2. Open Chord Review.

Before we get into the core lesson material, take the time to review all the open chords listed in the diagrams. Make sure you are using the fingers indicated, and that you can play each chord without looking at the picture. Remember, '1' is your left index finger, '2' is your left middile finger, '3' is your left ring finger, and '4' is your left pinky. Some of these fingerings may be different from what you are used to, but there are important reasons for this. Please follow all fingerings carefully.

When reading guitar chord diagrams, an 'O' to the left of a string indicates that the string should be plucked without placing any fingers on it. ("Open"). An 'X' to the left of a string indicates it should not be played at all. Any dots you see show the specific frets and strings where one of your fingers will be placed. Which finger you should use is shwon by the small number next to the dot.
